Voting was a very surreal experience for me. I went with one of my best friends since first grade, and there were people working at the polling place that live down the street from me and who I’ve known all my life. One of them was my sponsor when I was Confirmed, and the other used to babysit me when I was little. It kind of felt like my life coming full circle. I remember when Gore and Bush II were running against each other in 2000, I was in 2nd grade and I was so curious about who people were voting for and interested in the candidates from a young age, same in 2004. In 2008 I was 16 and so. close. to being able to vote, and for a candidate I actually really believed in! I am happy beyond words to be able to vote for Obama this time. No matter what the outcome of the election, today has been a really special day for me. I feel so connected to my country, and proud that I voted.
If you haven’t voted, THERE’S STILL TIME. The polls are open for a few more hours here on the east coast. Make sure your voice is heard!
